Omaha

So, looks like I will be going to Omaha for the ultrasound series.  Kayaks are apparently not a miracle infertility cure.  :(  But, we did have fun yesterday taking them out for a river trip.  They were so fun!

I'll be in Omaha from March 29th thru around April 4 or so.  For those who have been recently, or who live around there, do you have any hotel recommendations?  I need a hotel that is safe and includes rooms with microwaves/fridge/freezer, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  Last time I stayed up there for my surgeries, I was at Townplace Suites, and they were super nice, but also expensive.  Do y'all have any good recommendations?

  1. I stayed at the Homewood Suites on Cuming Street for my surgeries. I had lots of Hilton Honors points so was able to stay a couple nights for free. However, this hotel is super close to the hospital but only relatively close to PPVI (about 5-6 miles). I was there for 2 weeks for both surgeries so I chose to be closer to the hospital. Nice hotel. Full size kitchen and separate living space/bedroom. The hotel staff are familiar with PPVI patients and give a "PPVI rate" so don't forget to ask :)

I am praying for lots of answers for you!

  2. I don't have a lot of Omaha hotel experience since I lived there, but I think PW is right, that's a pretty nice hotel. If you want advice about shopping/restaurants/attractions, I did a series of posts a few months back about things to do in Omaha, if it's helpful. Wish I could meet up with you but we are busy that weekend. :( Hope you have a nice time in Omaha! Be sure to hit up Jones Bros cupcakes just down the street from PPVI. They have a cupcake of the day, and if you look it up on their website and then go in and tell them what the cupcake of the day is, you get it for free. :)

  3. I live in Omaha too, so don't stay in hotels too much, but here is what I know...There is a Residence Inn by Marriott near 72nd and Dodge that wouldn't be too far to drive and a Staybridge Suites near 80th and Dodge. Also, there's a place called Premiere Suites which I know NOTHING about, but it is very close to PPVI and in a nice neighborhood right off the interstate.

  5. We stayed at the Element Omaha Midtown Crossing. It was super close to the hospital, but not close to PPVI. The room was completely kitted out and the beds were super comfy!
